Real Estate In Cleveland Ohio: Buying A Home – How To Choose A Neighborhood

 CHOOSING A NEIGHBORHOOD

There are many factors to consider when determining if a neighborhood is right for you. Here are just a few factors that you may want to consider during your home search.

All neighborhoods have different characteristics. Some appeal to single people, some to families, and some may even be more suitable to those over 55. So before you choose a neighborhood, you need to do a little investigative work to determine if a neighborhood matches your lifestyle.

SCOUT OUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD:

Although the Internet is a great way to learn about a neighborhood, nothing can replace seeing it in person. Remember, when you buy a home, you are also buying the neighborhood and the lifestyle that comes with it. Here are a few tips:

*     Talk to people who live there to get a real sense of what you can expect.

*     Carefully pay attention to the pride of ownership of a neighborhood. How are these homes being maintained? Are the lawns well manicured? How do the exteriors look?

HERE ARE SOME OTHER FACTORS TO CONSIDER:

*     Look for access to major highways and proximity to shopping.

*     Observe local traffic patterns during different times of the day and drive from the neighborhood to your work to get a feel for commute time.

*     Does the neighborhood belong to a home owner’s association? If so, what are the yearly dues?

*     Check to see proximity to schools, police department, and fire stations.

*     Find out if there is a railway, busy road or other noises that may affect the neighborhood.

While finding a beautiful home is important, remember that the neighborhood also needs to be a good match as well. A good local real estate agent that is familiar with the specific neighborhoods in your preferred area should be able to further assist you in your home search.
